Too Tired? Too Anxious? Need More Time? We’ve got your back.
You will be required to read appellate court opinions. Most if not all of these appellate court opinions will be United States Supreme Court opinions from which the various rules of criminal procedure are derived from an interpretation of the U.S. Constitution, primarily the 4th, 5th, 6th & 8th Amendments. If you are not already, then you need to familiarize yourself with U.S. Supreme Court opinions. You will be required to read the assigned cases and prepare a “Case Brief,” what lawyers refer to as “briefing cases.” Your Samaha text calls this method “the text-case method” (please review pp. 16-22 of your Samaha text).
