You will argue a claim of your choice.
This can either be the same claim from your Speech or Poem or you can choose an entirely new topic.
Your claim should be backed up by at least 3 different premises.
You need to have at least 3 credible research sources. For each paragraph, you should have a different premise that references a different research source.
One premise must appeal to pathos.
One premise must appeal to ethos.
One premise must appeal to logos.
Each body paragraph must include a Say, Mean, and Matter.
Say: An integrated, cited quotation that supports your premise.
Mean: What the quote means, in your own words, and how it supports your premise.
Matter: How this premise supports your claim and why it is important.
One body paragraph needs to include a counterclaim that is addressed with a counter argument. The counterclaim should be supported by a piece of quoted evidence.
Your introduction must have a hook, outline necessary background infomration, address the counterclaim, and assert the main claim.
Your conclusion should reassert your main claim or premises, summarize the main points of your essay (without repeating), mention how the counterclaim was addressed, and include a call to action.
Your sources should be cited on a Works Cited page in MLA Format.

Your essay should include a Rhetorical Precis that you write about your own essay (after it is finished). (Your Rhetorical Precis Planning Document shows you how).
There is no minimum length, however your paper should be detailed, double-spaced, written in 12 pt, Times New Roman, and have 1-inch margins. It should meet all requirements above as well as the Rubric.
Essay must be turned in on Schoology in order to receive credit.
