This consumer education tool can be in the form of an informational bulletin/booklet; an informational narrated PowerPoint; or a video documentary that captures five (5) major themes or concepts that you believe are most relevant to consumers. Through an overview of each theme, it is important to address the relationship between the informational supports and protections available to consumers through sellers, consumer law, and governments (local, state, federal) [see chapters 16-19] and each of the following:
1. Consumer rights and responsibilities (global perspectives, sustainability)
2. Marketplace influences (advertising/marketing, fraud)
3. Financially healthy saving practices (budgeting, saving, insurance)
Each theme should include:
1. an overview of the theme
2. supports and protections [see chapters 16-19]
3. appropriate resources for consumer reference (organization, agencies, etc.) with brief explanation of connection
4. credible support beyond the textbook [see discussion board of consumer journal reviews]—at least one scholarly reference for each theme/a minimum of five scholarly references for this assignment. Scholarly references may support multiple themes so long as there are at least five scholarly references cited in your work and accounted for on your reference page.
5. imagery to support your content (cite/reference as appropriate)
As you approach this project, be mindful of the various resources discussed throughout the textbook. Throughout the semester, your weekly assignments included exploring these and other resources, to familiarize you with the vast amount of information available to consumers to support their rational decision making skills. As you begin this project, be sure to review chapters 16-19, and the many resources outlined within the text. These will serve as a support for your work!
