The student will also create a one-page handout that describes one of the vulnerable populations served by the agency. It will include any information the student believes others who are new to working with that population need to know to provide culturally relevant services.
The Handout (100 pts): The student will create a one-page handout that describes a specific population he/she/they learned about during their APR research. The student will use information gleaned during their 20 hours of research such as personal observations, informal interviews, agency materials, scholarly article, etc. to inform the handout. The student may choose to conduct research outside of his/her/their CBL experience**. Information presented will be without stereotypes, judgments, or oppressive language. The handout should include:
The name of the agency
Definition of the population (as defined by an authority – i.e. government agency)
How population defines itself. (This is especially important when this varies from how the authority defines the group, i.e. Hispanic or. Latinx)
Facts the student believes his/her/their classmates need to know when working with this population
Culturally relevant practices.
The handout layout is at the discretion of the student, and creativity is encouraged. Student will provide copies of the handout for all class members.
