Students write an essay in which they identify a specific problem they are interested in analyzing. This problem must be “local” to the student and have its roots in some professional/educational setting, family/household setting, or another community in which the student has affiliation or interest. The scope of the problem must be appropriate for the required length. In analyzing their selected problem, students will want to identify its most salient causes by research data. Persuasive techniques should be used in developing a plausible solution and plan for solution implementation and evaluation.
