Purpose
In this discussion activity you will locate and analyze two samples of medical writing meant for lay audiences. Analyzing these samples can help you prepare for writing similar documents for lay audiences.
Instructions
Initial Post
Our course materials have addressed several types of medical writing for lay/non-medical audiences, such as patient education materials, lay summaries, medical blogs, social media, and medical journalism. Find two examples of medical writing meant for lay/non-medical audiences from two different genres and include links to them in your post. Explain and analyze the two sample documents, considering the following questions:
What two documents did you choose and why?
What genres/types of medical writing are they? What do you know about the conventions and expectations of these types of medical writing?
What lay/non-medical audiences are the target audience for each document?
How do you see each document being tailored for a lay audience?
You are encouraged to consult and cite course readings in your post.
Your post should be 250 words or more.
