Too Tired? Too Anxious? Need More Time? We’ve got your back.
Introduction
Each case study provides a scenario involving nonprofit board members and executive leader(s). The context of each case is different but there is a problem grounded in issues of governance and leadership. In Case 1 we consider the dynamics between the CEO and the board when a controversial issue arises that potentially has serious negative impact on the organization’s finances and staff.
Directions
The purpose of the case study assignment is to demonstrate your grasp and understanding of the course concepts. Frame your analysis of the case using the readings and lectures in Modules 1, 2 and 3.
Follow these steps:
1. Analyze the case from different perspectives. What is going on with the characters in the case? How does what is happening relate to what you have learned in Modules 1, 2, and 3.
2. Develop a problem statement from your analysis. This is not a summary of the case. A problem statement is short and clear explanation of the issue(s) you have identified from your analysis. It also answers why is this issue important and who it impacts. Your paper must have a problem statement.
3. Devise possible solution(s) to the problem you have identified. Frame your solution(s) by what you have learned in Modules 1, 2, and 3.
4. Present a solid argument for your recommended solution(s). Draw from the Module readings and lecture(s) to provide support for your solution(s). Provide at least three references to support your analysis and solution(s).
Limit your paper to three pages double spaced using 12pt type. You may list your references on a fourth page if needed.
It is important to be concise.
