I General Instructions:
Due: Refer to Course Syllabus of HRM
The article critique should not exceed three pages, 1.5-spaced pages with one inch margins and 12 pt Times New Roman font.
The critique should be written based on the information provided in class, in the text book, and the handouts.
Articles must be selected from reputable peer-reviewed journals and published within the last 5 years.
The article should be related to HRM course.
Each student should select a different article.
The article you choose should have a methods section which involves some form of statistical analysis (t-test, correlation, multiple regression, chi-square, ANOVA etc.).
A sample critique and a copy of the original article should submit to your instructor. You are expected to follow the style of the article critique in close detail (e.g., title page, running header, page number, etc
In addition to your hard copy, you should email the document on the instructor’s telegram account. For the Subject of your email type, “Article Critique”.
II Technical Instructions:
The review should include:
Introduction
What the researcher wants to do?
Why the researcher thinks the works should be done?
How the researcher relate it to what is already known about the problem.
Were the research questions/hypothesis (es) or objectives clearly stated?
How he/she explain to create awareness about the problem, to provide basis for other researchers, or to extend the scope of ones own knowledge
How does the study contribute to the body of knowledge?
In relation to the area coverage as well as to the treatment of the variables in the study how he/she show what is going to be investigated and what not.
Were constraints or difficulties explained in the study influence the results of the study? How?
2. Literature Evaluation
– Does the literature related with the research title?
– Does the literature review seem thorough & recent?
– Does the content of the literature organized in logical manner?
3. Conceptual Framework
– Does the research use a theoretical and/or conceptual model? How do you evaluate it?
– Does the model guides the research and seem appropriate?
4. Method and Design
– Describe the study design – is it appropriate?
– How was the research conducted? (The study procedure itself) & data collected
– Were the subject’s rights protected?
5. Analysis
– How were the data analyzed?
– Do the selected statistical tests appropriate?
6. Results
– What were the findings of the study?
– Were the results significant?
– Are the results presented in a clear and understandable way?
– How did the authors interpret the results?
– Are conclusions made based on analysis and answer all research questions/prove hypothesis?
-Which concepts this article added from the existing body of knowledge?
