Too Tired? Too Anxious? Need More Time? We’ve got your back.
follow the steps below:
Research your rights: What rights does HIPAA give you in terms of requesting your health records? What obligations does this impose on other parties?
Identify where your records are: How many different types of health records are covered by the HIPAA regulations? How many different organizations hold your records?
Identify the process: What do you have to do to get your records? Does this differ across the organizations that hold your records?
Request your records from these organizations, and document what you experience in this process.
Think about what you have found and experienced through these assignment activities. Can you make recommendations for changes in the laws or current practices to improve any part of this?
write up your findings in a report using the following guidelines:
Describe your research findings.
Describe your experience with the process of requesting your own records.
Make specific recommendations on where you think the process might be improved.
Identify the scope of your recommended change (changes to HIPAA laws, changes to an organization’s policy, changes to individual business process for managing requests for information).
Further, identify who you think would be best placed to implement such changes, and explain why you think so.
There is no specific page limit (minimum or maximum) or formatting instructions. (If your submission appears to lack detail, I’ll provide feedback to indicate this.)
Please ensure that I can identify where you have addressed the assignment directives in your report.
