Everyone must complete 2 application video journals this spring, and you have 3 choices:
A Black feminist analysis of Lizzo’s Good as Hell music video
A representation analysis of Brooklyn 99
OR a social media analysis of professional athletes protesting racism
In each video journal, you’re required to use GoReact (unless you absolutely cannot make the tool work for you, in which case, you will need to use Yuja. Email cfoust2@msudenver.edu for assistance).
For this video journal, view the Good as Hell Remix, Good as Hell Song Lyrics and Official Good as Hell music videos from Lizzo. Then, review the Module 5 lecture and materials from Alinia and Crenshaw. How does the music video and/or lyrics respond to the matrix of domination that affects Black women? What controlling images does the music video and/or lyrics seem to speak to? Do the video or lyrics represent well the intersectionality that Black feminist thinkers advocate for? You will share your thoughts in a 3-4 minute video on GoReact or Yuja (note–video journals not recorded using these tools will not receive points).
