Winston Churchill famously quipped that “Democracy is the worst form of Government, except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.” Capitalism – widely regarded as the Economic system in the United States – has received criticism for promoting an overly materialistic mindset, where the pursuit of profit comes at the expense of the common good. Income inequality, a growing wealth gap, and an insufficient focus on social responsibility are often seen as some of Capitalism’s negative byproducts.
