Discuss the theoretical contributions of W.E.B. DuBois and the “Women Founders” (Addams, Wells, Martineau, Perkins-
Gilman). Discuss the social processes involved in developing and maintaining a “Canon” of classical Sociological theory,
contrasting with the typical ‘origin story’ of how such a Canon is created. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of

publication process, etc. – to disrupt or change course with regard to our “Canon” of theory?
