Culturally Responsive Instruction involves “using the cultural knowledge, prior experiences, frames of reference, and performance styles of ethnically diverse students to make learning encounters more relevant to and effective for them” (Gay, p. 31). For Discussion #3, you will share your experience designing a culturally responsive instruction [lesson plan] or working with/observing another teacher to design it. What were the instructional considerations and major ideas that were invested in the process? In case you have never either single-handedly or collaboratively designed a culturally responsive instruction, you can confer with a practicing teacher for guidance or draw relevant information from assorted sources, for example, textbooks, journal articles, video resources, etc., to address the discussion prompt.
Remember to appropriately incorporate i.e., cite at least two [2] sources, both in-text and end-text reference, in APA style from any or a combination of textbooks, videos, and peer-reviewed journals in your discussion post. Citations from blog sites, PPT slides, and other non-peer-reviewed articles are unacceptable! Please refer to D2L Discussion [Brightspace] Board for detailed information and expectations about this discussion prompt; also, the assignment section of the syllabus for direction in completing and submitting a post in response to discussion prompts and responding to at least a post submitted by any course mates for this course – due on D2L Discussion [Brightspace] Board, on or before 02/19 @ 11:59pm.
